We laid down on Barbara's bed to plan my day. We decided we were going to have a very good day with no Time Outs. I was told about a little field trip that is planned for today. I could hardly wait for us to get morning chores and routines done so we could get on the road. .
I ate grits and bacon in the backyard, then I got a special treat. I am always asking for donuts and Barbara never has any. Well, today she gave me two small donuts. She hopes I do not realize there are more in the freezer.
It is going to be one of those days that I keep asking, "What next?" As soon as we finish one thing, I want to know what we are going to do next. Mainly I am hoping the next thing was get in the car and start our field trip.
We read two books, brushed our teeth, got dressed and I watched Caillou while Barbara wrote a sympathy card which I put in the mailbox.
I have been playing with my old fireman's helmet for several months and it is about to break into three pieces. It is torn and dented and has seen much better days. Well, today I got a new helmet when Barbara drove me to the same fire station Mommy took me to before.
First thing we did was take a picture of me in my old helmet.
The fireman met us at the door and welcomed us. There were four firemen there and they were all interested in my old helmet. I was shy but I did manage to say I needed a new helmet. They said they had one for me. One of the firemen lifted me into the big truck. We talked about what they do when the alarm sounds.
I am standing by a fireman's boots and his pants that he can step into and then pull up his pants.
Here we are at the front of engine 107. I am dressed like the fireman! I picked out a red shirt to wear this morning because fire trucks are red. They asked me if I wanted to hold a water hose and shoot water out of it and I said no. They said come back in a few months and then maybe I would want to. I said okay. I thanked them and left a happy boy.
I helped take a load of clothes out of the dryer including a set of sheets. I helped Barbara put the sheets on our spare bed because tomorrow we are going to have company.
Here I was playing with my fire truck. I wore my new helmet until I laid down for a nap.
Lately I have been playing an imaginary guitar and listening to cowboy songs on Barbara's phone. Well, today Barbara found a channel on television that plays classic country music all the time. We turned it on at 11am and it was still on when Daddy picked me up at 7:30pm. We played and listened. We could even read books because the volume was down low.
I got upset around 1:15pm because Barbara wanted to sit down and rest and I wanted her to get up and play with me. She refused and I started to cry big time. It did not work, she would not get up. Ten minutes later I was still crying when I laid down and just a few minutes later I was asleep. I slept from 1:30 to almost 4:30.
I did not want to eat, but finally I agreed to eat some peanut butter and banana. I drank chocolate milk.
I played nicely by myself for over 30 minutes.
We were waiting in the garage when Daddy showed up. He carried me to the car so I would not get my boots wet.
